Alessandria, renovation of a historic mansion
The Villa has a large garden overlooking a monumental complex.
Atelier was commissioned to design an outdoor veranda, a covered patio adjacent to the side of the villa facing the pool. The goal is to create a filter between the inside and the outside: between the kitchen, where food is prepared, and the garden with the swimming pool where one can pause from spring to fall, receive friends and dine indoors while enjoying the fresh air and greenery.
We wanted to harmonize materials and colors of the new architectural artifact with the context and style of the house in order to integrate it discreetly and harmoniously into the pre-existing architecture.
Therefore, we contracted a local company to make the concrete steps and sills like the existing ones.

The Interior Design
The project also involved the interior, particularly the kitchen, where an opening to the covered terrace was created and where we intervened by completely revising the configuration of the space, the floors and the furniture.
On the floor, Bisazza cementine that echoes the Vienna straw patterns of the old Thonet chairs, chosen with the hostess, strongly characterized the room.
To accentuate the project of revisiting in a contemporary key a kitchen environment of classic memory, we opted for warm and decisive tones.

The Materials
The same floor decor was used in the guest bathroom, which is separated from the laundry room by a sliding window with linen-effect “canvas” glass. Gold-finish wallpaper and fixtures complete the room with an elegant and refined touch.

The Interior Design
All masonry and installations were carried out by our contractors.
The work is still in progress, with the veranda being closed off so that it can be used in winter, and the facades being redone, picking up the original colors of the time.
